About Us

SurviveAlive Youthworks exists to promote physical and spiritual well-being. SurviveAlive Youthworks has been organising outdoor activities since 1997. The team is made up of volunteers from churches across Cornwall.

SurviveAlive Youthworks encourages the life, energy and values of the Christian faith.

We invite all young people aged 11 – 17 (school years 7 – 12) to take part in our activities including the Summer Outdoor Adventure Camp.

If you are aged 17 or 18, please check out our Young Leaders page for more information about becoming a Young Leader. If you are aged 18 and over, we are always on the look out for new volunteer leaders. Please contact us for more information.

SurviveAlive risk assesses all activities, and works hard to ensure that campers stay safe at all times. At SurviveAlive we do all we can to ensure campers have a good time and our campers’ health and safety is always a priority. SurviveAlive ensures that campers are always supervised and cared for properly. All of the camp leaders are CRB/DBS checked and trained in safe-guarding, and some have additional training in first aid and food hygiene. All leaders, teachers and helpers have an active and personal relationship with God, accepting that Jesus Christ is God’s only Son, who died and rose again to set them free from sin.

Derek Thomas, the founder of SurviveAlive, oversees the summer camps alongside a core team of volunteers.

Derek

“For 20 years now I have led the SurviveAlive Outdoor Adventure Camp. This activity is for secondary school-aged youngsters and takes place on a purpose-built site near Helston during the summer holidays. Outdoor adventure is great for body, mind and spirit and, as you can see, we have a great time each year. What makes it special is that the team, from churches across West Cornwall, gives their time for free and works brilliantly together.”
